Friday Night saw 161 cars checked in to race on the high-banked 1/4 mile dirt track. Twenty-Eight Hobby Stocks, 31 Sport Mods, 45 Modifieds, 25 Stock Cars, 13 Late Models and 19 Mod Lites. Eric Stanton, Austin Luellen, Ricky Thornton Jr. Damon Murty, Darrel DeFrance and Randy Bryan all took the feature wins on night two.
First feature of the night was the Mod Lites 15 lap feature event. Jason Masengarb from Colona, Illinois took the top spot early and appeared to be heading on to take the feature win but a caution came out on lap 10 for debris on the front-stretch. On the restart, Masengarb had Mike Morrill and Travis Stensland wanting to take the lead away neither was successful and Morrill got way to high in turn 2 and drove off the top and lost a lot of spots. Masengarb saw the caution come out again on lap 13 when Jon Braathun spun turn 4 forcing a green-white-checkered finish. Masengarb had Randy Bryan on his back bumper on the restart. Bryan took the lead coming to the white-flag and would go on and take the win ahead of Masengarb. Stensland was third, Bryan Zehm was fourth and Erin Turner was fifth.
Next up was the IMCA Sport Mods 20 lap feature and it was Lucas Lamberies from Wisconsin leading the first 10 laps before Austin Luellen unleashed the rage and took the top spot away on lap 11. Luellen pulled away and went on to take the feature win. Lamberies, Brayton Carter, Sam Wieben and Taylor Musselman round out the top five.
In the IMCA Hobby Stocks 18 lap feature, After the initial start was called back it was Eric Stanton grabbing the top spot. However just after one lap was scored the caution came out for Jeremiah Andrews in turn two. Stanton was not going to let that bother him although he had to contend with Bradley Graham and David Rieks. Stanton fought them for a short time but Rieks took the top spot on lap 8 after a little contact between him and Stanton. Stanton was determine to take the top spot back and he did just that on lap 17. Stanton took the win with Rieks in 2nd, Shannon Anderosn in 3rd, Chanse Hollatz in 4th and Leah Wroten in 5th.
Jeff Mueller started inside row two in the 20 lap IMCA Stock Car feature but was in the lead using the bottom side of the speedway on lap one. Mueller was committed on the bottom meanwhile Randy Brands, Jay Schmidt and Damon Murty was among the drivers trying to make the top side work. Brands took the top spot away from Mueller on lap four. Murty worked his way from seventh to the top spot on lap 11. Murty cruised on take the win at Marshalltown ahead of Brands, Mueller, Travis Van Straten and Schmidt.
In the IMCA Late Models 15 lap feature, it was Hometown Boy Darrel DeFrance taking off right where he left on Thursday Night. DeFrance started outside front row and would lead all 15 laps and go on to take the win. Todd Cooney finished second after his crew worked all night and day trying to get the back up car race ready after he rolled on Thursday. Kyle Hinrichs ran third, Joe Zrostlik was fourth and Richie Gustin Jr. was fifth.
Final feature of the night was the IMCA Modifieds 20 lap feature event and it would be all Ricky Thornton Jr. leading all 20 laps and taking the win. Hunter Marriott ran second the whole distance. Cayden Carter moved up from sixth to finish third. Kyle Brown was fourth and Richie Gustin Jr. was fifth.
Racing continues next Friday Night at the Marshalltown Speedway with the Cliff Chambers Memorial presented by Old Timers Lounge with IMCA Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Sport Mods, IMCA Hobby Stocks and Mod Lites. Hot Laps at 7pm and Racing at 7:30pm.
Then on Thursday May 11th, the Marshalltown Speedway hosts the Dale DeFrance Thursday Night Thunder Memorial Race with IMCA Late Models & IMCA Modifieds ($1,000 to win), IMCA Stock Cars & IMCA Sport Mods ($500 to win) and IMCA Hobby Stocks ($300 to win) plus the Mod Lites.
