Logue and Zevenbergen Crowned Dirt Duel Champs, Carter wins Bill Davis Memorial

The decision on Wednesday night was to make the trip to Stuart International Speedway for the third and final night of the Dirt Duel presented by Dynamic Drivelines, Midstate Machine, Sniper Speed and Country Kitchen of Stuart. It was also the rescheduled Bill Davis Sr Memorial for the IMCA Modifieds honoring one of the dirt track pioneers in Iowa.

One Hundred and Twenty five cars checked in on Wednesday Night to tame the 1/4 mile dirt track located on the northwest side of Stuart. Racing action was hot and heavy on night three just like it was the previous two nights. Stock Cars and Sport Mods ran last chance heats and b-feature to determine the remaining 16 starters. Monday and Tuesday Top four feature finishers were locked in to the first eight spots. Modifieds ran a complete show for

Stock Cars and Sport Mods the headliners of the Dirt Duel both had finishes come down to the checkered flag.

First feature of the night was the 16 lap Pitts Lawn Service & Rick's Towing IMCA Hobby Stocks feature. Dylan Nelson led the opening lap but Brandan Long grabbed the lead away on lap two. Nelson and Long battled it out meanwhile Brandon Cox worked his way through the field and made it a three car battle. Cox took the lead on lap four but Nelson did not go away. Nelson could not get back by Cox for the lead but then the caution came out on lap seven when Chuck Madden Jr spun in turn four. Cox got a great restart with Nelson and Tom Killen Jr chase him down however the caution came out again for Madden on lap ten.

Cox held off late race challenges from Nelson and Solomon Bennett to take the win. Bennett edged out Nelson for second. Thirteenth place starter Miciah Hidlebaugh finished fourth and eleventh place starter Travis Fenton finished fifth.

The Spangler Automotive IMCA Sport Mods was up next for their Dirt Duel 50 lap feature. Monday Night feature winner Shane Paris and Tuesday Night feature winner Brayton Carter led the field to the green flag. Carter took advantage of the high side and grabbed the early race lead. Cody Thompson managed to take the lead away from Carter on lap seven and lap later the caution came out when Brandon Patava hit an implement tire in turn two. Thompson and Carter battled it out for the lead and Carter took the lead back on lap ten. The next caution came out on lap fourteen for Hunter Longnecker spinning in turn three and four. Carter looked to be the one heading on to the win but Thompson was not going away. The caution came out on lap 23 when Patava stopped in turn four after he made heavy contact with the wall in turn two.

Carter, Thompson and now Brian Osantowski battled for the race lead but it was Carter remaining the captain of the ship. Carter however would bring the next caution out on lap 41 when he spun in turn three and four after occuring front suspension damage. That handed the lead over to Thompson. Thompson had to deal with Josh Most and Johnathon Logue on the restart. The caution came out again on lap 45 for Adam Bohlman spinning in turn one and two. Thompson got a great restart and appeared to be heading on to the win only to see the caution come out as he exited turn four for the checkered. This forced a green-white-checkered finish and it was the driver nicknamed the Bobcat, Johnathon Logue getting a great restart as he took the spot away. Logue and Thompson battled it out to the finish line with Logue winning by a bumper at the line over Thompson. Most, Colby Fett and nineteenth place starter Colby Langenberg rounded out the top five.

It was time for the Affordable Quality Roofing & Exteriors IMCA Stock Cars 50 lap Dirt Duel feature, it you knew the divison known as the Class Too Tough Too Tame would put on a exciting race. Monday's winner Elijah Zevenbergen and Tuesday's winner Todd VanEaton started on the front row. Before a lap was completed scored, the caution came out when Jay Schmidt was spun in turn three and four, Robert Stofer and Leah Wroten both came to a stop. When the race got going it was Zevenbergen taking the race lead but he was heavily challenge early by VanEaton. Zevenbergen pulled away when Van Eaton had to battle with the "Game Changer" Dallon Murty. Zevenbergen out front leading, Murty got by VanEaton but the caution came out on lap twenty when Luke Lemmens spun in turn three.

Zevenbergen had to contend with not one Murty but two because "Chelsea Charger" Damon Murty had worked his way through the field from his twelfth place starting spot. Zevenbergen held off both Murtys and looked to be heading on to the win specially when Dallon slipped up allowing Dad Damon to slip on by for second. The final race caution came out on lap 44 when Chanse Hollatz came to a stop in turn four. Zevenbergen, Dallon and Damon Murty battled it out initial on the restart but Zevenbergen held them off.

On the last lap though, Dallon Murty worked the back bumper of Zevenbergen in turn two and dove to the bottom in turn three to pull off the slider in turn four. Zevenbergen was ready as he crossed over and out dueled Dallon Murty to the line to take the checkers. Dallon Murty finished second, Damon Murty was third, thirteenth place starter Jesse Sobbing was fourth and Abe Huls was fifth.

Final feature of the night was the VIP Contractors & Karl Chevrolet of Stuart IMCA Modifieds 26 Lap feature. Normally a special event feature is 25 laps but in honor of Bill Davis Sr, it was 25 + 1 Lap. Todd Shute and Joel Rust battled it out early for the lead with Shute taking the top spot. Cayden Carter worked his way by Rust in lap three and set his sights on getting by Shute. Shute continued to pave the way until a caution came out on lap 17 for Anthony Roth spinning in turn three. Carter got a great restart and worked his way to top spot putting Shute back to second. The caution came out again on lap 18 when Jesse Dennis hit the wall hard in turn two. Carter went on to take the Bill Davis Sr Memorial victory. "T-Dub" Tim Ward grabbed the second, Tom Berry Jr also wrestled third away from Shute. Shute slipped backed to fourth and Rust back to fifth.
