Olson Remains Hot on Iowa Donor Network Night in Indee

Independence, Iowa (July 30th, 2022) - Iowa Donor Network "Racing to Save Lives" Night at the Independence Motor Speedway had to wait one week, as it was originally scheduled for July 23rd but because of the weather last week. The night was in honor of organ, tissues and eye donors and recipients.

Iowa Donor Network was in attendance where people could sign up and learn information about becoming a donor. Kids were not left out on the fun as there was activities for the kids to do and gifts from  the night's sponsor, Geater Machining & Manufacturing. Money was added to all classes for the feature winners, if they had the green ribbon sticker they were given when they checked in. IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Sport Mods was $750 to win. Hoosier Daddy Jason Doyle also donated some brand new Hoosier tires to the feature winners and a random draw finishing spot in each of the IMCA divisions.

This year instead of doing the raffle drawing and auctioning of the door signed by all the competitors just at the track, people can go online to get a raffle ticket and place a bid on the signed door until later in the week, those links are on the Independence Motor Speedway Facebook page. Special Thanks goes out to Jess Luloff, wife of Stock Car driver Chris Luloff, for working hard to put this great event together.

One hundred-twenty three cars signed in to tame the 3/8 mile banked oval on a very special night. After the heat races, the track prep team went to work to make the racing surface a little better, feature time that showed as they went two, three and sometimes four wide. Final checkered flag was displayed at 11:07pm.

First feature of the night was the Burco Sales IMCA Sport Mods 15 lap feature event, Brandon Tharp and Will Wolf led the field to the green flag but neither one of them led the first lap, Tony Olson grabbed the top spot early. Shortly after the first lap was scored the caution came out when Curt Hilmer spun on the front stretch. Olson got a great restart but the caution was displayed again on lap two when Logan Veloz spun on the back stretch. Olson fended off Wolf and Tharp again on the restart, two laps later the caution came out again when Cole Suckow came to a stop on the front stretch. Olson got a great restart and never looked back going on to take his six straight win in Indee. Tharp finished second, Wolf was third, Troy Burkhart was fourth and Austin Stamm worked his way back through to finish fifth.

Before a single lap was scored in the Dominator Chassis IMCA Stock Cars 20 lap feature, there was a caution when Rob Twaites went off the top side of turn one. Cole Mather out wrestled Tom Schmitt on the restart to take the top spot but was challenged several times by Schmitt and Jarod Weepie until the caution came out again on lap three when Schmitt spun in turns one and two. Mather had to contend with Weepie and Kaden Reynolds on the restart and fend them off until lap seven when Reynolds was able to sneak by Mather for the lead. The caution came out shortly after when Kyle Rose and Hannah Chesmore in turn three and four. Reynolds got a great restart and started to pull away only to see Mather reel him back down just as Reynolds caught lap traffic. Reynolds was not to be denied as he went on to take his third win of the season in Indee. Mather, Weepie, Leah Wroten and Schmitt, after working his back, rounded out the top five.

Korey Lana led the first lap of the Waterloo Auto Parts Compacts 12 lap feature but Lana slipped up allowing Blake Driscol to take the top spot on lap two. Lana and Driscol swapped the lead on laps four and five before David Balik made it a 3 wide battle for the race lead on lap six. Balik took the top spot away on lap six. The only caution came out on lap seven when Christopher Mannion spun in turn two. Balik held off Driscol and William Michel on the restart and held off challenges from Michel. Balik and Michel rubbed some paint and came across the line side-by-side with Balik winning by a nose over Michel. Andrew Bieber finished third, Driscol fell back to fourth and Chris Pittman was fifth.

In the Waterloo Auto Parts Indee Cars (Micro Mods) 12 lap feature event, Reggie Rema jumped out to the early race lead fending off Chad Dugan. The caution came out on lap one when Kyle Pearson spun after making contact with a infield tire in turn two. Another one came out when Chad Dugan spun in turn one on lap two. Rema held the top spot until lap five when Ethan Steere worked his way into the top spot. Steere pulled away and went on to take the feature win ending the winning streak of Chad Dugan. Rema, Matt Dugan, Carson James and Kolton Osborn rounded out the top five.

Next on to the speedway was the Performance Bodies IMCA Modifieds 20 lap feature event, Troy Cordes led the first lap before a caution came out when Jason Morehouse spun off the front stretch. Jaden Fryer took the top spot away momentarily on lap two before Cordes regained the top spot on lap three. The caution came out again on lap five when Matthew McCahen spun in turn three. Cordes fended off challenges from Fryer, Milo Veloz and twelfth place starter Drew Janssen to take his third win of the season. Janssen came home second, Veloz was third, Brennen Chipp was fourth and Ryan Maitland was fifth.

Jon Passick wrestled the lead early from fellow front starter Jerod Ballhagen in the Dunlap Motors IMCA Late Models 20 lap feature event. Passick led meanwhile Sean Johnson was working his way through the field, Johnson started to challenge Passick for the race lead and just before he was able to get by, the caution came out on lap thirteen. The first caution was for Austin Russell spinning in turn four and then on the restart for Ballhagen hitting an infield tire in turn two. Johnson got a great restart and took the top spot away from Passick, then pulled away to claim his fourth win at his hometown track. Colton Leal came home to get his best finish of the season in second. Passick, Greg Kastli and Brandon Davis finished third through fifth respectively.

Final feature of the night was the fifteen lap Albert Auto IMCA Hobby Stocks feature presented by Christie Door Company. However before a single lap was completed, the caution came out when Shawn Kuennen, Dalton Weepie, Chad Mannion and Logan Takes get together in turn three. Then the following restart was called back. Briar Kriegel led the first lap before Quinton Miller took it away on lap two. Miller was followed by Benji Irvine, Irvine made several attempts to get by Miller but came up short as Miller went on to take the feature win. Irvine finished second, eleventh place starter Adam Streeter was third, Billy Rhoades in fourth and Brett Vanous in fifth.

Next Saturday Night is the rescheduled Buchanan County Fair Late Model Showdown presented by People's Company featuring the Haulin' with Hoker Trucking SLMR Late Models. For the Late Models, it will be the Denny Osborn Memorial paying $7,200 to the winner. IMCA Modifieds are $1,000 to win, IMCA Stock Cars are $750 to win, both are Fast Shaft and B&B Chassis All-Star Invitational qualifiers. Murty, Jaennette and Olson Among Winners on Triple E Insulators Night

After taking a week of no racing last weekend to go roughly 5-6 hours to Little Falls, Minnesota for a family celebration on Friday Night I made the short trip across town to the Karl Auto Group of Marshalltown Speedway for Triple E Insulators Night at the Races. There racing was exciting and  intense racing when the race track came in just in time for features.

One Hundred-fifteen cars signed in the back gate to tame the quarter mile and during the features they were going two, three and four wide through out the race and the finishes. It would have almost thought a full moon was soon but the next full moon is the Sturgeon Moon on Thursday August 11th.  There was also one Super Late Model in attendance to get some practice laps in for next week's race and that was of Curt Schroeder. Final checkered flag was displayed at 10:16pm.

First feature of the night was the IMCA STARS Mod Lites 15 lap feature event. Darrick Knutsen led the first two laps before "Huggie Bear" Joel Huggins worked his way by Austin Gray and Knutsen on lap three. The only caution came out shortly after laps three was scored when Mikade Meyer rolled in turn four, Meyer was okay but it ended his night. Huggins fended of Knutsen and Gray on the restart and went on to take his second points win and third win of the season at Motown. Gray finished second ahead of Josh May, who finished third. Cory Sonner was fourth and points leader Randy Bryan was in fifth. Mod Lites will have the night off next week and return on August 12th.

Drury Automotive and Truck Repair Outlaw Mini Mod Series 12 lap feature event was next on to the speedway. TJ Stalker grabbed the early lead and led the first two laps. Troy Ihrke managed to wrestle the lead away on lap three. The only caution came out when Sierra Rose Gray spun in turns one and two on lap four. Ihrke held off Stalker, Nathan Kilwine, Logan Brown and Ben Kraus on the restart and managed to led the final eight laps to take the feature win. Kilwine, Kraus, Stalker and Brown finished second through fifth respectively. Outlaw Mini Mods return one more time on Friday August 26th.

Up next was the 15 lap IMCA Sport Compacts feature event, this would be the only feature to go caution free. Matt Miller managed to lead the first six laps before Kolby Sabin worked his way by to take the race lead. Sabin pulled away and cruised to the easy feature win, his fourth win in Motown this season. Miller exited with mechanical issues that allowed David Kimmel to come second. Tyler Crimmins making the trip from Fort Dodge finished third, John Schuring was fourth and John Gill was fifth. Sport Compacts return on August 12th.

Austin Mehmen wrestled the lead early from pole sitter Gary Pfantz in the IMCA Hobby Stocks 20 lap feature event. Mehmen then had to contend with Carter Koop on lap five. The first caution was red flag when Preston Merical appeared to have hung throttle sending him off the top of turn four hard into a RV that hauled a race car, Merical climbed from the car shook up. Mehmen led off Koop on the restart but the caution came out again on lap eight when Briar Kriegel in turn four. Koop wrestled the lead way on lap ten and looked to be heading on to the race win but Eric Knutson was able to take the lead away just before a caution on lap 15 when Mehmen spun in turn two and then on the restart when Ben Newhouse had his rear end break and lock up when he tried to avoid contact with another car that was slow on the track. Knutson went on to take his third win of the season. John Watson, Koop, Sam West and Corey VanDerWilt rounded out the top five. West was the hard charger moving up eighteen spots from the start.

In the Big 8 Tyre Center IMCA Sport Mods 20 lap feature event, Taylor Bass grabbed the race lead early and appeared to get a little separation until the caution came out on lap seven when Jessiah Taylor spun in turn four. Bass had to contend with Kyle Olson and Tony Olson the restart. Tony Olson took second and set his sights on the race lead which he grabbed just prior to the caution on lap 12 for debris in turn four. Tony Olson led the final eight laps to go on take his second win in Motown. Kyle Olson came home second, Bass was third, Travis Peterson was fourth and Mason Day was fifth.

The Class Too Tough Too Tame, IMCA Stock Cars presented by Drury Automotive and Truck Repair was next on to the speedway for their 20 lap feature event. Todd Reitzler jumped out to the race lead early fending of Tommy Fain and Michael Jaennette. Jaennette tried taking the top spot away from Reitzler but seemed unsuccessful. The caution came out on lap nine when Tyler Pickett spun in turn two. Reitzler managed to fend off challenges from Jaennette and Kaden Reynolds. Jaennette continued to take chances to get by Reitzler but Reitzler held strong. Just as the leaders was coming to the finish, Reynolds then running third spun in turn three forcing Austin Kaplan and Tommy Fain to make evasive action to avoid making contact. This created confused as the yellow was coming out the leaders was coming down the front stretch, after communication with the tower it was deemed over as the first four was scored. Jaennette edged out Reitzler back to the line to take the feature win based on the decision, that allowed Jaennette to take the points lead back as he claimed his third win. Steve Meyer finished third, hard charging Jeff Wollam moved up twelve spots to finished fourth and Jared Daggett was fifth.

Final feature of the night was the Tire Demon by Love Tap IMCA Modifieds 20 lap feature event. Rod Clement led the first lap before the driver known as "The Bobcat" Johnathon Logue took the race lead away. The caution came out shortly after when Andrew Kinser and Robert Moore spun in turn four. Logue held of Adam Hammerding and Chris Mills on the restart. The caution came out on lap six when Jimmy Gustin, Scott Simatovich, Jesse Belez and Clement spun in turn four. Logue held off Mills and Richie Gustin until the final caution came out on lap 15 for debris on the front stretch. Logue now how to contend with Mills and Dallon Murty on the restart, Murty managed to claim second and then pulled a slider on Logue on lap sixteen, Logue hung on but on lap seventeen, Logue jumped the cushion in turn two allowing Murty to get a little gap. Murty went on to take his fifth Modified win in Marshalltown. Richie Gustin, Zack Rawlins, Logue and Laurtizen round out the top five.

Next Friday August 5th is the twice rescheduled 5th Annual Dale DeFrance Memorial presented by FastShaft and Tire Demon by Love Tap featuring the Hoker Trucking Super Late Model Racing (SLMR) Series Late Models. Beckendorf, Shryock, Looft, Johnson and Monson Claim Salute to Veterans Wins in Spencer

Originally I had no plans to sneak a race in before heading to Minnesota this weekend for a family function but Team 3W Racing and Owner Tyler Wollam asked if I wanted to go to the Clay County Fair Speedway for racing, I look to see if I could and I was able to so finally I made my first ever visit to the track in Spencer, Iowa. They have been friends of mine for many years and I have so much fun hanging out with them at the races, I have made several first time visits to race tracks with them in the years and they are big supporters of the Foxman which I appreciate a lot.

I was extremely impressed with the Clay County Fairgrounds as it is a fantastic facility, the only down side is that it is three hours away and makes for a rough day. The facility that only races so many times a year is well maintained, most nights they are done at decent time but the Salute to Veterans Tour nights always have a lot of things for the veterans that make the race longer. I know if the Clay County Fair Speedway was closer I would definitely make more trips because I was extremely impressed.

There was great two, three and a time or two four wide racing that saw One hundred-thirty eight cars checked in. Trent Chinn and his crew put on a great show that kept moving along minus a very brief intermission to take of some more Salute to Veterans. Final checkered flag was displayed at 12:03am after getting the car loaded it meant we were back on the road for Marshalltown around 1am, we rolled back to town at around 4am.

Hunting with Heroes Salute to Veterans Tour Night one was presented by Alumna Aluminum Trailers & Altenburg Construction. Top Gun Partners included American Muscle, Bruce Lundin Construction, Gary Larson, Go Gutters, HomeInstead, Pearson's Recycling, S&B Farm Distillery, Sybesma Graphics and Snap On Tools.  Salute to Veterans Drivers with special wraps, In the Modifieds : Jeremy Mills, Nick Meyer, Johnathon Logue and Jake McBirnie. Stock Cars : Kelly Shryock, Chanse Hollatz and Wayne Landheer. Sport Mods : Matthew Looft, Taylor Kuehl and Jake Sachau.

First feature of the night was the seven lap IMCA Sport Compacts feature event. "Racin' Flagman" Logan Kelly grabbed the early race lead from his outside front row starting spot and was followed by Megan Sandvig. The caution came out on lap two when a car went off the top of turn one. Kelly held of Sandvig and Camden Nehring on the restart but Oliver Monson and Nate Coopman began to challenge Kelly for the lead. Coopman took the lead away on lap six but on the final lap, Monson was able to edge out a four wide finish over Tyler Thompson, Coopman and Kelly. Kaytee Devries came home fifth.

Arnold Motor Supply IMCA Hobby Stocks 18 lap feature event was up next on the 3/8 mile banked dirt track. Justin Frederick took the early race lead but just after the completion of lap one the caution came out. The caution was for Kyle Kiner and Jeremy Ertman in turn four and Chris Krug off top of turn one. Frederick had to contend with Jim Johnson on the restart. Johnson wrestled to the lead away on lap three. The caution came out again on lap five when Riley Songer, John Ross and Tyler Smith in turn two. Johnson held off Frederick and Malik Sampson on the restart. Johnson on the bottom side and Malik Sampson on the top side, Sampson took the lead away briefly on lap nine, Johnson refused to come away and took the lead away on lap 12. The caution came out one more time on lap 16 for Songer in turn one. Johnson held on to take the win despite a hard charging Dylan Nelson to claim the top prize of $1,000. Nelson finished second, Sampson in third, Jay Devries in fourth and Drew Barglof was fifth.

Up next was the Rabel Construction IMCA Sport Mods 18 lap feature. Matthew Looft, defending and four time national champion, jumped out the race lead fending off Brian Schrage. Just after the completion of lap one, the caution came out when Will Garceau and Taylor Kuehl spun in turn two. Looft fended of Schrage and Jake Simpson on the restart but the caution came out on lap three when Kuehl went off the top side turn one, ending her night. Looft looked strong and started to pull away until the caution came out on lap twelve for Jeremiah Reed spinning in turn four after getting help from Nate Whitehurst. Looft got another restart but the caution came out again on lap 18, Dyllan Ricks in turn one, forcing a green-white-checkered finish. Looft hung on to take the feature win worth $1,250 to win, Jake Sachau finished second. Brian Schrage, Cam Reimers and Justin Klynsma rounded out top five.

Brandon Beckendorf and Jeremy Mills led the field to green in the KICD Radio IMCA Modifieds 20 lap feature. Mills wrestled the lead early but Beckendorf refused to go away, Beckendorf took the lead away on lap five and started to pull away until a caution on lap nine when Dylan Sherfick and Chris Abelson in turn turn four, Sherflick was sent to the the tail. Beckendorf appeared to be having a commanding lead until lap twelve when the Dakota Classic Mod Tour Champion Tom Berry Jr went to make a slider. Beckendorf countered and maintain the lead, Berry slapped the wall exiting turn four. The caution came out on lap 14 for Chris Abelson in turn four. Berry tried another slider on  Beckendorf but once again Beckendorf held him off only to see the caution come out on lap 17 for Zack Rawlins in turn two. Beckendorf held on to take the win and its top prize of $3,500 to win. Jake McBirnie, worked his way from ninth to finish second. Berry, Tim Ward and Jeremy Mills finished third through fifth respectively.

Final feature of the night was the Mr. B's Flooring IMCA Stock Cars 20 lap feature, Randy Brands wrestled the lead away from pole sitter "Wahoo" Mike Albertson. Brands pulled away and looked to be heading on to the win but the caution came out on lap 11 for debris in turn one putting Chanse Hollatz and Kelly Shryock on his back bumper. Brands held them off but the caution came out again on lap 14 when Cody Nielsen spun turn two. Brands led until Shryock took the lead away on lap eighteen just before a trio of cautions. The first caution was for Derek Green in turn two, Green was sent to the tail but did not agree and felt he had help. Green then showed his displeasure with the track officials, did donuts on the bottom of the front stretch, officials decided no points no pay. Shryock went on to take the feature win, worth of $2,250 to win, ahead of Hollatz, Elijah Zevenbergen, Damon Murty and Brands.

Next race at the Clay County Fair Speedway is The Clay County Clash presented by Farmers Trust & Savings Bank and Abel Drainage & Excavating on Monday August 1st. Independence, Iowa (July 16th, 2022) - Finally for the first time in almost a month, the Independence Motor Speedway saw some racing action after having the final night of June rained out, 4th of July weekend off and then having the fair race rained out. Justin Temeyer and track prep crew worked hard and got the racing surface ready, it was fast and had character leaving the it up to driver skill. One hundred and twenty three cars signed in for the Greg Hunter Memorial including 24 IMCA Late Models.

Saturday Night we remembered a hall of famer of the speedway in Greg Hunter, who passed away a week ago. Thanks to Jeff Temeyer, Scott Crawford, Flaucher (Dan & Layette), Johnson Plumbing & Heating, Denali's on the River, Courtney Cue, Duffys (Jim, Lisa, Logan and Landon), Brian & Jadin Hunter, Ray & Gail Hunter, Benson Security, Mandy & Nathan Ritter, Joe Hayes, Tarpy Trucking, Ken's Electric, Crawford Transport, Rick Wendling Family, Tim & Kelly Philo, Brad Osborn  & Waterloo Auto Parts, Dominator Chassis, Curt Martin Family / Remax Independence Realty, Travis Smock / Peoples Company, Jeff Lickiss, Quam Trucking, Independence Plumbing & Heating, Zack Masteller, Black Hat Photography, Taylor & Jenny Simmons, Missy Simmons Davies & Donna Simmons, Christie Door Company, Chris Donnely, Ram Plumbing (Aaron & Andrea Luke), Chris Rodgers, Chris Canfield, Nick Wells Transportation, Dixon Chassis, Hosch Farms, Doug Cue (Superior Cleaning), JR3 Racing, Andy & Penny Donnelly, PC Dirt Works, Cody Rawsom Family, Jeff Huntley Trucking, Tom Brown, Memory of David Fangmans for adding money to make the night even more special remembering a friend Greg Hunter.

First feature of the night was the Burco Sales IMCA Sport Mod feature event, originally scheduled for 15 laps but a bounty was place on Tony Olson, he was given the option to go to the tail to double his money no matter where he finished and if somebody else could be Olson, they would claim $200. Well Tony Olson accepted the challenge and that turned the feature into a 20 lap feature event. Vern Jackson grab the stop spot early fending Cole Suckow and Brandon Tharp. The caution came out on lap two when Rayce Mullen spun in turn two. Jackson led until lap four when Logan Veloz took the top spot away. Veloz held off Jackson and Suckow meanwhile Olson was working his through to the top five. The caution came out again on lap 12 when Josh Weltzin spun in turn two. Veloz led until lap 14 when Olson made the move and took the lead away. The caution came out again on lap fifteen twice and on lap eighteen. Olson held off Veloz including the last lap when Olson about gave it away. Olson took his fifth in a row at Indee ahead of Veloz, Austin Stamm, Jackson and Kip Siems.

Dominator Chassis IMCA Stock Cars 20 lap feature was next on the speedway and it was Jason Hocken grabbing the early lead but the caution came on lap two when Trent Blessing spun in turn two. Hocken had to deal with Leah Wroten on the restart, Wroten took advantage and took the lead away on lap four. The caution came on lap six when Kaden Reynolds was spun in turn four by Chris Luloff. Wroten looked to be heading on to take the feature win but Cole Mather was able to steal it away on lap sixteen. Mather went on to take his fourth win of the season in Indee. Wroten finished second, Tom Schmitt was third, Jason Doyle in fourth and Reynolds in fifth.

Chris Pittman took the lead on lap one in the Waterloo Auto Parts Compacts 12 lap feature but before the field completed another lap the red flag came out when Joseph Hempstead took a tumble in turn four. Korey Lana stole the lead away temporarily on lap two before Pittman regaining on lap four. Blake Driscol worked his way through and took over the race lead on lap six. Driscol held off a hard charging Colton Stewart to take his second win of the season. Stewart, Lana, Pittman and Matt mIller rounded out the top five.

Bobby Hansen and Jeff Aikey led the field to the green flag in the 25 lap Dunlap Motors IMCA Late Model feature event. Aikey used that too his advantage by taking the race lead early. Hansen had to battle with Matt Ryan, Andy Nezworski and Sean Johnson until the caution came out on lap eight when Chase Jermeland and Scott Welsch spun in turn three and four. The caution came out again on the restart when Brandon Davis Spun turn two. Aikey was not fazed and held off any challenge on the restarts. Aikey went on to take the feature win worth $2,777 to win. Must have been a power of the sevens to remember Greg Hunter with Aikey taking the win in the number 77, Nezworski finished second in the number 7 car. Johnson was third, Ryan in the 07 car was fourth and Hansen was fifth.

Waterloo Auto Parts Indee Cars 12 lap feature was next and Dale Schwamman led the first four laps before a caution came out when Owen Rosburg went off the top of turn one. Chad Dugan stole the lead away on the restart and not even the caution on lap seven for Skyler Dugan getting into Kolton Osborn in turn two was Chad Dugan going to be denied his fourth win in a row. Schwamman, Carson James, Skyler Dugan and Dave Rosburg rounded out the top five.

Josh Barta grab the lead early in the Performance Bodies IMCA Modifieds 20 lap feature event but just after one lap scored the caution came out when Dustin Kroening and Rod McDonald in turn one. Barta held on to the race lead until lap four when Ryan Maitland took it away. Troy Cordes used a caution on lap six to take the race lead away. Cordes appeared to be the guy to beat however on lap 16, Cordes had to contend with a lap car and ended up sliding off the top resulting in to the tail that gave the lead over to Maitland. Maitland held off Burnson Behning on the restart but the caution came out again on lap 17 when Behning spun in turn one. JD Auringer, driving for Timmy Current, took the race lead away on the restart and never looked back. Auringer took his first win of the season. Maitland was second, Dustin Kroening was third, Mark Schulte was fourth and McDonald was fifth.

Final feature of the night was the 15 lap Albert Auto IMCA Hobby Stocks feature event. Third place starter Billy Rhoades took the race lead early and not even a lap eight caution for Dalton Weepie and Mathew Vislisel spinning on the front stretch and Randy LaMar in turn three on lap 14. Peterson and Raffurty Take First on Minute Man Printing Central Iowa Fair Night at the Races

The Karl Auto Group of Marshalltown Speedway roared back to life after having last week's Dale DeFrance Memorial Races rained out and a scheduled Friday night off, it was a beautiful night and not even an early Friday morning rain shower prevented the races from happening.

This Friday Night was Minute Man Printing and the Central Iowa Fair Night at the Races. A total of eighty-nine cars signed into tame the high bank quarter mile track, the racing surface appeared to be racy as they were going two and three wide through out the night. The racing action got heated up, the final checkered flag was displayed at 9:54pm.

First feature of the night was the Big 8 Tyre Center IMCA Sport Mods 20 lap feature event, Chris Burke grabbed the top spot early and started to pull away as the battle behind him was heating up, however the caution came out on lap 6 for Curt Smeins spinning on the front stretch. Burke held off Kaylin Lopez and Taylor Bass on the restart an appeared to be going to take the win. The caution came out on lap eight when Sam Wieben, Jessiah Taylor and Jeremiah Reed battled for position resulting Wieben to spin and stop in turn two. Burke held on to the race lead until Travis Peterson chase him down with three laps to go. Peterson managed to take the lead away on lap 18. Peterson went on to take his first feature win of the season. Burke finished second, Lopez took third, Wieben worked his way back to finish fourth and Bass was fifth.

Dillon Raffurty from Kansas City, Missouri took the lead early in the 15 lap IMCA Stars Mod Lites feature event. Dillon Raffurty was out front leading as again the battle for second on back was getting intense. Joel Huggins worked his way from seventh to challenge Dillon Raffurty before the caution came out on lap nine. The caution was for Mikade Meyer spinning in turn four. Dillon Raffurty held off challenges from Huggins to take the feature win. Huggins, Randy Bryan, Justin Raffurty and Josh May rounded out the top five.

Sam West led the first lap of the IMCA Hobby Stocks 20 lap feature event before Solomon Bennett, driving his back up car took the race lead. Bennett hung on to the lead until lap eight when Eric Knutson made the move and took the top spot away. Knutson appeared to be cruising on the the easy win until a caution came out on lap 16 for debris on the front stretch. Knutson held off Bradly Graham and Bennett on the restart to take his second win of the season in Motown. Graham finished runner-up, Seth Butler took third away from Bennett moving Bennett to fourth, William Klosterman was fifth.

Up next was the Drury Automotive & Truck Repair IMCA Stock Cars 20 lap feature event, Michael Smith grab the early lead and fended off several early challenges from Steve Meyer. Michael Jaennette spun on the front stretch but was able to get it back around to not bring out a caution. Meyer made the move and took the race lead away on lap seven. The caution came out on lap eight when Smith was spun in turn four by Kaden Reynolds resulting Jared Daggett, Jeff Wollam and Austin Kaplan to get together. Reynolds was black flagged, Daggett and Wollam exited pit side with damage. Meyer held off Murty and David Atcher on the restart until lap 12. After trading sliders the lap before Murty got sideways exiting turn four hooked Meyer's right rear, resulting in Meyer hitting the guardrail and rolling, Meyer climbed from the car okay but the car was heavily damage. Atcher inherited the lead but it was short lived as, Jaennette worked his way by after a lap 13 caution for debris. The caution came out one more time on lap eighteen for Jeff Byers Jr in turn four. Jaennette went onto take his second win in Marshalltown this season, this also regained the points lead. Atcher finished second, Scooter Dulin was third, Leslie Gill was fourth and Brett Maasdam was fifth.

Zack Rawlins led the first four laps of the Tire Demon by Love Tap IMCA Modifieds 20 lap feature event. Dallon Murty showed his strength and took the top spot away on lap five. Murty pulled away until a mid race caution on lap ten for Bret Ramsey spinning in turn four forcing Jeff Schroyer to make contact with no where to go. Murty got a great restart and never looked back going on to take his fourth win in the Mods at Marshalltown. Ronn Lauritzen, eleventh place starter Jimmy Gustin, Dustin Kroening and Randy Brown rounded out the top five.

Final feature of the night was the 15 lap IMCA Sport Compacts feature, just like two weeks ago they would go fifteen laps caution free. Mitchell Bunch led the first lap, Kolby Sabin led the second lap with Bunch regaining the lead away on lap three. Sabin took the lead away on lap four and never looked back as he pulled away to take his third feature win of the season. Tyler Fiebelkorn finished second, Blake Driscol was third, Mark Smith was fourth and Bunch ended up fifth.

Davenport Sweeps Night 1 of Fever Heat 100 at Stuart

Originally I planned to attend at least one night of the Fever Heat 100 Week but then it was transition to only a two day show I was unsure if I was going to make a night. Night One came and after much discussion I decide to make the trip over to the Karl Chevrolet of Stuart International Speedway for XR Events Fever Heat 100. The night featured the XR Super Series Late Models, XR Super Series Stock Cars presented by Karl Kustoms and Hobby Stocks.

So I left Marshalltown around 3:30pm and arrived to Stuart around 5pm. I was glad I went because I was not disappointed even though the final checkered flag wasn't displayed until 11:20pm meaning I would not get back to Marshalltown until around 1am.

Seventy-eight cars signed into tame the quarter mile bullring on Night one of the Fever Heat 100. Forty-two XR Super Series Late Models, twenty-four Karl Kustoms XR Stock Cars and twelve Hobby Stocks. They would be all over the racing surface all night long going two and three wide through out the divisions.

The special is called Fever Heat 100 because the A-Features add up to one hundred laps, Late Models 50 laps, Stock Cars 30 laps and Hobby Stocks 20 laps. Night two will see the same format, Late Models 50 laps, Stock Cars 30 laps and Outlaw Mini Mods 20 laps.

First feature of the night was the XR Super Series Stock Cars 30 lap for a thousand to win thanks to Fox Welding. The Stock Cars at Stuart always put on show and this proved to be the case despite a total of nine cautions. Damon Murty wrestled the race lead early from pole sitter Shay Woods but the first caution came out just after lap was scored when Derek Green and Cade Richards got together in turn one. Damon Murty held off Dustin Vis and Shay Woods on the restart but they refused to go away. The second caution came out for debris in turn one. Damon Murty once again held off the challenges from Vis and Jesse Sobbing on the restart meanwhile Dallon Murty was working his way through the field and just before the cautions on lap thirteen, he was right behind his dad.

Lap thirteen saw Cody Hillgartner spin in turn one and two and on the restart, Ty Hill ended up on top of infield tire in turn four forcing another caution. Damon Murty had to battle with his son Dallon Murty for the race lead and on lap fifteen, it was the younger Murty taking the lead away. The caution came out again on lap sixteen when Steve Churchill spun in turn four, lap seventeen for Rowdee Van Genderen and James Tarter in turn four. Three more cautions came out, lap eighteen for Hill in turn four, Greg Osman in turn four on laps twenty-two and twenty-eight. Dallon Murty got great restarts and held off his dad to take the feature win, to become the fourth different XR Super Series Stock Car feature winner this season. Damon Murty finished second, Sobbing was third, Vis was fourth and Green was fifth. Heat winners was Sobbing, Johnny Spaw and Vis.

After a quick rework of the track it was time for the 50 lap XR Super Series Super Late Model feature event. Time Trials, 6 heats, 2 B-features and 2 Provisionals (Fast Qualifier not qualified and Top series points driver not qualified) completed out the field of 24 cars. It was only fitting the XR Super Series Super Late Models saw Jonathan Davenport, nicknamed Superman leading the field to the green flag after overall quick time and winning heat number one. Davenport jumped out to the race lead and got separation between Chad Simpson early. Simpson battled with Mike Marlar on lap one, then Ricky Thornton Jr on lap two.  Davenport continued to pull away as Thornton now into second until the first caution came out on lap five when Chase Junghans, Dennis Erb Jr and Tyler Erb in turn three, "Turbo" Tyler Erb was the penalized car with the other two getting their spots back however Junghans had to get a tire changed so he was placed at the tail. Davenport again show the caution was not going to by his kryptonite as he got a great restart and once again pulled away until the next caution on lap sixteen for Daulton Wilson in turn two.

Once again Davenport had another great restart and pulled away meanwhile Thornton, Chad Simpson and Chris Madden battled behind him for position. Just as Davenport was closing in on lap traffic the caution came out again on lap twenty-six when Kyle Bronson came to a stop on the front-stretch. Superman once again must have had that cape working as he pulled away on the restart again this time never looked back. Davenport got slowed down by lap traffic but appeared to manage it enough to have no kryptonite denied him his third XR Super Series Late Model win this season. "T-Mac" Tim McCreadie fended off a hard-charging "The Reaper" Ryan Gustin to take second, Gustin in third. Marlar came home fourth and Chad Simpson fell back to fifth. Points leader Chris "Smoky" Madden finished sixth, Thornton was seventh. "Smooth Operator" Bobby Pierce was the hard charger, moving from twenty-second to finish eighth. Skyline Motorsports team cars of Tyler Bruening and "Georgia Bulldog" Shane Clanton rounded out the top ten.

Overall Quick timer in time trails was Davenport. Heat winners was Davenport, Marlar, Thornton, Chad Simpson, McCreadie and Madden. B-Feature winners was Wilson and Owens. Provisionals was Johnny Scott for fastest qualifier not qualified and Scott Bloomquist was your points provisional.

Final feature of the night was the XR Hobby Stocks 20 lap feature event, Adam Hensel grabbed the early race lead holding off Solomon Bennett. Hensel and the field saw the caution come out when Chris Bates spun in turn one. Hensel had to contend with Bennett and Skylar Pruitt on the restart. Pruitt took the race lead away on lap twelve prior to a caution when Bennett and Eric Stanton got together in turn two. Pruitt got a great restart and was followed by Seth Butler but the final caution came out on lap fifteen when Josh Grubbs spun exiting turn two. Pruitt held off Butler and Hensel on the restart and led the remaining five laps. For Pruitt, it was his first career feature win in the Hobby Stocks at his hometown track. Butler, Hensel, Rusty Bates and Jared Smith rounded out the top five.

Pictures I took are posted on the Trackside Report by Foxman Facebook Page in a photo albums called Stuart XR Fever Heat 100 Night One 7-11-22.

Great job by track owner Mike Van Genderen and track prep team for creating a fantastic racing surface for night one, Barry Braun, Bucky Doren and the XR team for putting together a great event like the Fever Heat 100. Nick Robbins and "Big Boy" Jason Frommelt did a fantastic job announcing all night long as well.
