Night #4 of the Frostbuster took place at Home of the Super Nationals and the Boone Speedway. Around a 190 cars signed in Boone to compete for the honors of being Frostbuster winner and there was also 5 mod lites on hand to get laps in before next week.
Before the features though the IMCA Modified heat winners would have a king of the hill race. 1st round would see Kyle Strickler beat Johnny Whitman, Mark Elliott beat Jay Noteboom and Kenny Schrader beat Jake Durbin. 2nd round would see Mark Elliot beat Kenny Schrader and Kyle Strickler received a bye. The final round it was Kyle Strickler beating Kyle Strickler.
The first feature of the night was the IMCA Sport Mod 20 lap feature. Nick Roberts would take the early lead from his pole position but just shortly after 1 lap was completed the caution would come out for Brett Moffitt coming to a stop in turn 2. Roberts would continue to lead but after another lap was completed Adam Shelman would lose power and come to a stop on the backstretch.
Roberts continued to lead but on lap 4 another caution came out for debris. Roberts again would have an excellent restart and not look back as he would go and take the win. Joel Rust, Austin Lucas, Bryan Lariviere and Tracy Wassenberg rounded out the top 5.
In the IMCA Modified feature it would be Mark Elliott taking the lead just like he did on Thursday. Elliott would lose the lead on lap 2 to Jimmy Gustin. Gustin would lead until the caution would come out on lap 2 for Strickler having some issues in turn 2. On the restart Gustin would be passed by Jay Noteboom. Noteboom and the field would see the caution come out on lap 7 for a couple of cars in turn 4. Noteboom would continue to lead and looked to be going on to the win despite several challenges from Elliott but on the last lap coming off of turn 4, Elliott would make it stick and win moving Noteboom back to 2nd. Gustin was 3rd, Kenny Schrader was 4th and Scott Hogan was 5th.
IMCA Stock Car feature would go green-to-checkered and it would be Donavon Smith leading all 20 laps. Brandon Czarapata from Wisconsin was 2nd, Michael Jaennette was 3rd, Steve Meyer was 4th and Trent Murphy was 5th.
The final feature of the night was the IMCA Hobby Stock feature and it was Shawn Wirtz leading the first lap but then the caution would come out for debris on the backstretch and then for Tyler Pickett in turn 2. On the restart after the 2nd caution, Wirtz was passed by John Watson for the lead. Watson would go on to take the win followed by Randy Embrey, Brandon Brinton, Chris Jensen and Adam Armstrong.
Next Satruday Night the Boone Speedway gets the 2012 season for track points underway. Hot Laps at 6:45pm and Racing at 7:30p
Final night of the Frostbuster is at the Benton County Speedway in Vinton. Gates Open at 3p, Hot Laps at 4:30p and Racing to Follow.
