First Time Winners Dominate Iowa State Fair Speedway

Des Moines, Iowa (June 24th, 2016) - Hot Summer night leads to some exciting racing action Friday Night at the Iowa State Fair Speedway. Also in attendance was the Des Moines Blaze, a semi-pro football team.

Darrel DeFrance (IMCA Late Models), Greg Cox (IMCA Modifieds), Jack Housley (IMCA SportMods), Ray Stock Jr. (IMCA Hobby Stocks) and Matt Moro (Dirt Trucks) all claim first wins of 2016 at ISF Speedway. Clint Benson (IMCA RaceSaver Sprints) and Todd Fisher (IMCA Stock Cars) make a return visit to victory circle.

First feature of the night was the Karl Chevrolet Dirt Trucks 12 lap feature event and it was Matt Moro taking advantage early by grabbing the top spot but Moro saw the caution come out on lap three for Larry Webb and Del Enos and then again on lap four for John Davis, Bryan Spangler and Enos, both incidents happened in turn one. Moro pulled away and never looked back taking the first win of the season. Webb worked his way back up to finish second ahead of Davis, Rick Clark and Lou Siplot.

Brady Moss led lap one of the 12 lap IMCA SportMods feature but Jerid Ratzke found a line his hot rod liked and he wrestled the lead away on lap two. The caution came out on lap three for Moss, DJ Robinson and Brandon Williams getting together on the front stretch. Ratzke maintained the lead until Jack Housley worked his way from 11th starting spot to the lead on lap six. Housley went on to take his first of the season ahead of Ratzke, Brett Hopp, Jerry Hinton and Taylor Musselman.

In the IMCA Modifieds 15 lap feature event it was Matt Webb leading the first two laps before Greg Cox made the pass on lap three. Cox cruised off into the sunset and not even the caution on lap eight prevent him from parking it in victory lane. Nick Roberts, Matt Webb, Russ Gladson and John Davis rounded out the top five.

Cory Adams led early in the 12 lap IMCA Hobby Stocks feature but Ray Stock Jr grabbed the lead away on lap two. The only caution came out on lap six for Sabrina Killen spinning on the back stretch. Stock got a great restart and appared to be heading on to the easy win but Shannon Anderson was slowly working his way through field. Stock held off a last lap challenge from Anderson to take his first win of the season and putting an end to Anderson's streak of ten consecutive feature wins at ISF dating back to July 10th, 2015 when Adams won that night. August Bach finished third, John Watson was fourth and Brandon Cox was fifth.

Don Wear and Randy Killen led the 15 lap IMCA Stock Car feature to the green but by the end of lap one it was Todd Fisher and Killen battling for the top spot. Fisher grabbed the top spot and held off several challenges from Killen before the caution came out on lap eight for Gary Bass in turn two. Fisher went on to take his second win in back to back weeks despite having to hold off Todd Inman coming to the checkered. Donavon Nunnikhoven, Killen and Ronald Bougher finished third through fifth respectively.

Ben Nading wrestled the lead away in the 18 lap Larry Fleck & Son's Trucking IMCA Late Models feature event and cruised out to a commanding lead but the caution came out for Curt Schroeder in turn two on lap six. Nading got a great restart and again got out to a commanding lead meanwhile Darrel DeFrance, John Emerson, Charlie McKenna and Jeff Aikey was working their way up through the field. DeFrance reeled in Nading with five laps to go, they began to battle for the lead but Nading held off DeFrance. On the last lap, Nading and DeFrance race side-by-side until they went into turn three when Nading had something come a part in the rear end of his car, that allowed DeFrance to cruised on by for his first win at ISF. Emerson was second, McKenna was third, Aikey was fourth and Ryan Griffith was fifth.

Final feature of the night was the 15 lap IMCA RaceSaver Sprints and Tyler Thompson grabbed the top spot early but Clint Benson worked his way from eighth to the lead by lap four. Thompson experienced mechanical issues and head pit side meanwhile Benson got out to a commanding lead but the caution came out on lap 11 for Brandon Worthington in turn two and then again on the restart when Michael Johnston spun trying to battle with Benson for the lead and Corey Kautz got in the fence in turn four. Benson got a great restart allowing him to pick up his third win of the season at ISF. Ben Woods, Nathan Mills, Mike Houseman and Johnston rounded out the top five.

No Racing Next Friday Night at the Iowa State Fair Speedway because of the Good Guys Car Show taking place on the fairgrounds. Racing action returns on Friday Night July 8th with all seven classes in competiton. Hot Laps at 6pm and Racing to Follow.
