Vinton, Iowa (June 5th, 2016) - Sunday Night was action packed night of racing at the Benton County Speedway because there was three additional features from last week's doubleheader racing weekend. BCS Micro Mods feature from Monday's show and both, Stock Cars and SportMods features from Sunday's show. All the racing action was completed just under three hours.
Don Erger sweeps the Micro Mods, Scott Pippert and Bob Ahrendsen win Stock Cars. Matt Petrezelka and Danny Dvorak win SportMods, Adam Petrezelka win Hobby Stocks and Scott Hogan wins Modifieds.
First feature was the make-up Micro Mod feature and after the initial start was called back, it was Scott Beatty grabbing the top spot early. Beatty led until veteran Don Erger took the top spot away on lap four. Erger did not look back going on to take his fifth win at BCS. Russ Olson, Dallon Murty, Beatty and Cole McNeal rounded out the top five.
SportMods make-up feature was next but before a single lap was scored the only caution came out when Mike Mitchell, Christian Jordan and Ryan Walker got together in turn one. On the restart, it was Dakoda Sellers taking the lead from his outside front row starting spot but Matt Petrezelka followed him to the second spot and it was Petrezelka taking the lead away on lap two. Petrezelka would lead the remaining laps to take his first win at BCS this season. Tony Olson worked his way up to finish second, Danny Dvorak was third, Gage Neal was fourth and Kyle Olson was fifth.
Curtis Roster led early in the IMCA Stock Cars make-up feauture but Scott Pippert made the pass and cruised on to the win ahead of John Oliver, Damon Murty, Norman Chesmore and Justin Stander.
After all the heat races where completed it was time for the first of the original night features and it would be the 15 lap IMCA Hobby Stocks Feature. Kyle Dulin took lead on lap one but Matt Petrezelka took the top spot away on lap two. The caution came out on laps three for Tim Harther in turn three and then on lap five for Dulin in turn two and Matt Brown in turn one. Petrezelka was not going to let those bother him but he had late race challenges from August Bach, Nathan Ballard and Brett Vanous. Petrezelka held them off for the win ahead of Bach, Ballard, Vanous and Justin Wacha.
Up next was the 20 lap IMCA Modifieds feature event and it was Waterloo's Brennen Chipp leading the first three laps before Vinton's own Scott Hogan took the lead away on lap four and never looked back getting his first win in Vinton of 2016. Patrick Flannagan tried to get by Hogan but settled for second, JD Auringer settled for third, Joe Docekal was fourth and Ronn Lauritzen was fifth.
Don Erger started outside row two but by lap one, he was leading the BCS Micro Mod feature event. Only that slowed Erger from getting win number six was a caution on lap six for Dallon Murty in turn one and lap 11 for Matthew West in turn four. Matt Post, Cole McNeal, Scott Beatty and Murty rounded out the top five.
Mitch Manternach wrestled the lead away early from other front row starter Gage Neal in the 16 lap IMCA SportMod feature event. Manternach looked confortable out front but then the caution came on lap seven for Christian Jordan and then again on lap eight for Ryan Walker in turn two and Ryan King off the top of turn four. Manternach was pressured by Joey Schaefer, Neal, Danny Dvorak and Tony Olson and just after the completion of lap ten coming to complete lap 11, Manternach spun coming out of turn four handing the lead over to Dvorak, who was second at the time. The caution came out on the restart for Scott Meyers and then again for Meyers on lap 12. Dvorak held off Schaefer, Olson, Neal and Kevin Hurst to take first win in Vinton this season.
Final feature of the night was the IMCA Stock Cars feature and it was Curtis Roster leading the first two laps before Austin Evens took the lead away on lap three. Evens saw Bob Ahrendsen come up and complete the pass for the lead on lap seven though. Ahrendsen seemed to be crusing on to the easy win but the caution came out on lap 14 for Mike Galli off the top of turn three. Ahrendsen saw Jay Schmidt, Evens and Scott Pippert behind him and Ahrendsen was successful holding them off to take win number two at Vinton. Evens, Schmidt, Pippert and Norman Chesmore finished second through fifth respectively.
Racing action continues next sunday at the Benton County Speedway with the Iowa Donor Network and Urbana Five Memorial Night with Extra Money on the line in all five classes. Hot Laps at 6pm with Racing to Follow.
