Mother Nature Wins Marshalltown This Week, DeFrance Memorial Rescheduled

This week the plan was to head to the Marshalltown Speedway tonight for the 2nd Annual Dale DeFrance Memorial Race. Due to the heavy rains that fell on Wednesday Morning and Afternoon it left the grounds on the Central Iowa Fairgrounds extremely wet. So Speedway Officials made the quick decision to postponed the race until next Thursday instead.

Some had wondered why the Speedway did not reschedule the races for Friday Night well its very simple as the Central Iowa Fairgrounds is hosting a Iowa High School & Junior High Rodeo this weekend (Friday-Sunday) which is why the races were moved to Thursday Night and no races was scheduled on Friday Night. So there is NO RACING at Marshalltown tonight or tomorrow.

With the 2nd Annual Dale DeFrance Memorial Race is rescheduled for next Thursday Night and then the originally scheduled Salute to Military Night presented by UAW 893. Thursday Night will be draw/redraw for track, state, regional and national points and Friday Night will be the normal IMCA Point Invert Lineup procedure. So if you don't have plans next Thursday Night than plan to attend the Marshalltown Speedway for the Dale DeFrance Memorial. If there are is any drivers that normally run Marshalltown and want to race this week invite you to make a trip up to the Hancock County Speedway....I promise you won't be disappointed.

Of course this was not the only cancellation for this week so far as the Kossuth County Speedway in Algona also cancelled Thursday Night. I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska has cancelled for tomorrow night. Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas is cancelled because they are still cleaning up from last month's floods.

Here is what is on the schedule next for the me. Tomorrow Night is Night 3 of the 25th Anniversary Season at the Hancock County Speedway sponsored by Secory Plumbing & Heating and Jason's Auto Body working the microphone with Chad Meyer. Saturday Night, I will be taking the night off of dirt track racing and Sunday Night (Mother's Day), I will be back to hopefully work Corner 1 and 2 at the Benton County Speedway.

Next week here is the tentative plan for racing: On Wednesday Night, Jake Durbin Memorial Race at Stuart Speedway......Thursday Night, Dale DeFrance Memorial Race at Marshalltown Speedway......Friday Night, Schroeder Racing Products & Doll Distributing Night at Hancock County Speedway.....Saturday Night, Open with a few options......Sunday Night, Benton County Speedway in Vinton.

If I am able to get all that racing action in next week you can bet you can read about all or most of that right here on my blog....only excepts is Vinton Races as I do not get to keep notes.

Remember your moms this weekend as its Mother's Day Weekend by getting her something special and giving her thanks. Thanks mom for not just being amazing mom but an amazing nurse and  friend.

To all you reading this.......Catch you down the road at the track!
