Shute and Olson Win The Twin Topless Dirty 30s in Motown

It was a beautiful Friday night for racing action at the Karl Auto Group of Marshalltown Speedway as mother nature played nice as all the pop up rain storms dodged Marshalltown. They were going two, three and four wide throughout the night as the race track popped up some rough spots in the corners.

A total of One hundred-twenty nine cars checked including 34 IMCA Sport Mods presented by Rugged Radios and 23 IMCA Modifieds presented by Tire Demon by Love Tap for the Capital Signs Co. Twin Topless "Dirty 30s" presented by 1-800-BETS-OFF. Modifieds and Sport Mods take their roof and sail panels off to go topless. Both features had exciting action.

Stock Cars, Hobby Stocks, Mod Lites and Outlaw Mini Mods did not disappoint either with exciting finishes coming down to the wire. The scariest incident of the night happened in the last feature.

First feature of the night was the Rugged Radios IMCA Sport Mods Twin Topless "Dirty 30's" 30 lap feature event but before a lap was scored the caution came out when Kenser Ellis, Taylor Bass and Matthew Mayo got together in turn one. Travis Peterson out dueled Cam Reimers to grab the top spot early but the caution came out again on lap two and lap three. Reimers was able to take the race lead away as they would go three wide on lap four. Reimers held off Logan Anderson and Kyle Olson until lap 12 when "Cousin" Kyle Olson was able to take the lead when Reimers bobbled. Olson bobbled allowing Anderson to take over the race lead before reclaiming the top spot on lap 15 as Anderson exited with mechanical issues. The caution came out on lap 11 when Braden Richards was sent off the top of three and four with an assist from Ryan King. The final caution came on the following restart. Kyle Olson heldd off Reimers and then Colorado's Danny Concelman to take the feature win with the top prize of $1,000 to win. Concelman finished second, Reimers was third, Willy Kirk came home fourth. Jenae Gustin blew a motor in her car in hot laps but borrowed Jason Pansegrau's car and came home to a fifth place finish.

Johnathon Logue took the early race lead in the Tire Demon by Love Tap IMCA Modifieds Twin Topless "Dirty 30s" 30 lap feature event. Logue was flanked by Joel Rust but Logue held off until a slight bobble allowed Rust to take the top spot away on lap six. Rust fought off challenges by Logue and Todd Shute until lap 12 when Shute was able to lead. Shute held of Rust and Drew Janssen until the only race caution came out on lap 20 when Jerry Flippo went off the top of turn three. Shute got a great restart holding off Rust and Janssen meanwhile "Game Changer" Dallon Murty was restarting in fourth. Shute knew somebody was going to challenge him on the last lap and it was Murty. Murty went for the slider in turns three and four, Shute was ready as he crossed back over and was able to outduel Murty back to the line. Shute took home the top prize of $1,200 by .084 over Murty. Janssen was third, Ethan Braaksma was fourth and Rust fell back to fifth.

Up next was the "Class Too Tough Too Tame" IMCA Stock Cars presented by Drury Automotive & Truck Repair 20 lap feature event. "Too Cool" Taylor Kuehl grabbed the race lead fending of Scott Rice meanwhile Jeff Wollam and Tripp Gaylord battled behind them. Kuehl slipped up on lap eight allowing Rice to take the top spot away. Rice led until Wollam was able to take the top spot away on lap nine. Wollam lost the lead on lap eleven to Gaylord but refused to go away as he was able to reclaim the lead on lap 14. Wollam held off Gaylord and then late race challenges from Austin Kaplan including beating Kaplan to take the feature win by .020 at the line. It was Wollam's first win since August 13th, 2021. Kaplan, Rice, Gaylord and Steve Meyer rounded out the top five.

RJ Gonzales jumped out to the early lead in the Knight Sanitation IMCA Mod Lites 20 lap feature event fending off Scott Bailey and Austin Gray. The only race caution came out on lap six for Alex Eischeid making contact with Austin Glick in turn three. Gonzales led until lap 15 when Dillon Raffurty was able to work his way through the field to take the top spot. Raffurty went on to take the feature win ahead of Gonzales, Jon Padilla, Jason Masengarb and Josh May.

In the Big 8 Tyre Center IMCA Hobby Stocks 20 lap feature event, it was Jake Nelson leading from start-to-finish. A trio of early race cautions slowed the feature from getting a rhythm going. The first caution came out on lap one when Derrick McNeece and Andy Peck in turn four.. The next two cautions came out on lap three, first for debris in turn four and then on the restart for Kyle Richardson in turn four. Nelson was determined to not be denied but had to to fend off Darin DeZwarte and Eric Knutson to take the feature win. Knutson finished second, eleventh place starter Bradly Graham was third, Luke Ramsey was fourth and Solomon Benentt was fifth.

Final feature of the night was the Outlaw Mini Mods 15 lap feature event. Clayton Vanderploeg led the first lap before a slight bobble allowed Zackary Schaefer to take the race lead away. Schaefer slipped up on lap four allowing Vanderploeg to regain the top spot. A lap later the caution came out when Megan Daniels spun in turn two. Vanderploeg got a great restart but unfortunately two laps later the feature came to an abrupt ending when Lucas Daniels went off the top of turn four. The feature was called with 8 laps complete giving the win to Vanderploeg. Ben Kraus finished second, Kaden Rice was third, Bobby Daniels was fourth and Schaefer was fifth.
