Hudson, Iverson, Smith, Murray and Murphy win at the Budweiser Showdown at Motown

This Friday Night once again the promotor Toby Kruse would have to battle with good ole mother nature but this week Toby would win. There was a light sprinkle after the dwarf car feature but it only helped make the track better. It saw a 133 cars signed in, 28 dwarf cars, 31 sport mods, 24 stock cars, 24 modifieds and 26 hobby stocks. Two scary rides on the evening, John Schuring would flip in his hobby stock heat race but would make it back out for feature time, the other one was in the dwarf car feature when John Gardner went rolling down the front stretch, John would climb from the car a little banged up but okay.
The Dwarf Cars/Mod Lites were up first for the 15 lap feature and because it was a special TUSA points race as well it was a draw for the feature. Troy Hudson drew the pole in the feature. The first caution would come out on the start of the feature because Ivan Guerra and John Gardner made contact it send John rolling but got out of the car a little sore. When it restarted Hudson would take the lead but antoher caution would come out this time with 1 lap in the book when Joe Wood spun in turn 4 and Jason Smithson on back stretch. Hudson would maintain the lead na lead at the end and hold off challenges by Tim Hennigar and Andy Hennigar. Hudson would pick up his 2nd feature in 3 weeks, Tim Hennigar would finish 2nd, Andy Hennigar was 3rd, Johnny Mordock in 4th and Mike Morrill was 5th.
Up next is the IMCA Sport Mods, 4 Heats and B Feature would determine the field for the 15 Lap feature. Brad Iverson took the lead from the start. The first caution came out on lap 8 when Jeremia Boynton and Scott Davis got together in turn 2. Iverson would have to do battle with Jake Strayer. Stayer would take the lead on lap 13. A caution would come out on lap 14 when Tim Love spun in turn 3 meaning it would set up a green-white-checkered. Strayer maintain the top spot for the 1st lap but would be passed by Brad Iverson for the last lap. Iverson took the win, Strayer in 2nd, Joel Bushore was 3rd with Kevin Sather and Geoff Olson finishing 4th and 5th.
IMCA Stock Cars would come up next for their 18 lap feature. Clay Deppe would take the early race lead. The first caution came out on lap 2 when Tommy Thompson would lose a rear end in turn 4. Then again on Lap 3 when a tire would end up in turn 2, the 3rd caution on lap 4 when Brian Holmes and Jared Daggett got together in turn 2. Deppe would lose the lead to Dustin Smith on the restart. Smith went on to the win, Trent Murphy in 2nd, Steve Meyer in 3rd, Ryan Gustin in 4th and Deppe ended up 5th.
Up next is the 20 lap Budweiser Showdown at Motown IMCA Modified feature. Jacob Murrary would start on the pole and lead from start to finish, despite cautions and despite battling Brett Ladehoff for the top spot. the 1st caution would come out on lap 1, 1st for debris in turn 4 and then 3 times on the restarts for Mike O'Lear hitting the wall, John Logue and Adam Larson getting together in turn 2 and tire in turn 4/Scott Simatovich in turn 2. The last caution came on lap 15, Jimmy Gustin spun in turn 3. Murray took the win, Ladehoff was 2nd, Larson was 3rd, Richie Gustin in 4th and "Nitro" Nate Caruth in 5th.
The final eature was the 12 lap hobby stock feature. Clint Nelson lead the first lap and then The "Wild Women' Jennifer Hulin took the lead on laps 2 and 3. Michael Muprhy passed Hulin on lap 4. Dustin Griffith would bring out the only caution in the feature. Murphy, Devin Smith, Daniel Hilsabeck, Terry Shaffar and Clint Nelson would round out the top 5.
Next Friday Night will be Aaron's Fair Night at the Races with Kids Bike Races and then on Saturday Night its Quad/Motorcycle Races!
