My goal was to make it at least one night of the 3rd Annual IMCA Summer Nationals. Unable to attend Monday night because of PA Announcing duties at Marshalltown High School Varsity Softball Doubleheader against Ames left me Tuesday and Wednesday. Well, Tuesday came out; I was exhausted from Monday's softball games, so I sat at home and watched the coverage on Advantage Racing TV and IMCA TV. Wednesday, I had the energy and motivation to attend the final night of the IMCA Summer Nationals, and I was glad I did, even though I didn't get home until after 12:30am.

Great job by the promotion team of Mike Van Genderen, Dana Benning, and Trent Chinn on putting the event together. Jeff Kropf, Jeff Broeg, and Tony Paris did a fantastic job with announcing races through out the week; Advantage Racing TV and IMCA TV broadcasts were fantastic. Josh Reynolds and Colton Graham did a nice job in the scoring tower, and John Huff on waving those colorful sticks.

One hundred and sixty-eight cars checked in to tame the 3/8-mile dirt oval on the Buchanan County Fairgrounds on the final night of the 3rd Annual IMCA Summer Nationals. The first 2 instalments of the IMCA Summer Nationals were at the Clay County Fair Speedway in Spencer before moving to Indee this year. Meaning the total car count of the three race nights was 532, and the average car count per night was 177 cars. The racing action was exciting in all feature events, including a photo finish. Final checkered flag waived at 11:10 pm.

The first feature on finale night of the IMCA Summer Nationals was the IMCA Northern Sport Mods presented by Pat's Auto Salvage for 20 laps. Kyle Olson, Cam Reimers and Brayton Carter led the field to the green flag. Carter snatching up the race lead using the cushion. Carter led the way as the battle heated up because Olson and Reimers were behind him, as did Caleb Woodard and Ben Chapman. Carter had a 2-second lead before the first caution on lap eight when Brandon Bradford spun off the top of turn three. Carter held off Woodard and Olson on the restart. The caution came out again on lap 11 when Hunter Poston slid off the top of turns three and four. Carter got another great restart; Woodard jumped the cushion in turn two, but shortly after, another caution on lap 12 came out when Zach Davis, Mary Hahn and Jacob Berry got into an infield tyre in turn four. Carter held off Reimres and Devyn Peterson on the restart and got a little separation. The final caution came out on lap 17 when Justin Klynsma spun in turn four after slight racing contact with Tony Olson. Carter went to claim the $3,000 to win the feature event, adding to his Monday night's invitational win that was also worth $3,000. Woodard came from tenth to finish second; Peterson from fourteenth to third. Tuesday's winner Cam Reimers fell back to fourth, and Tony Olson came home in fifth.

Jace Whitt, Kollin Hibdon, and Ethan Braaksma led the field to the green flag in the 22-lap IMCA Modifieds presented by Waterloo Auto Parts. Hibdon jumped out to the race lead; Braaksma ran second as Cody Laney and Brandon Beckendorf battled for third. On lap four, the caution came out when Whitt slid off the top of turn two and got caught up in the guardrail. Hibdon held off Braaksma and Beckendorf initially on the restart but slid off the top of turn two, allowing Braaksma to take the lead away. Beckendorf followed Braaksma and began to apply some pressure. Laney joined the battle out front, but Braaksma held them off until lap sixteen. Beckendorf took the lead away and never looked back as he went on to take the feature win worth $5,000 to win. Braaksma finished second, Hibdon in third, Laney in fourth, and Tuesday's winner Joel Rust was fifth. Hard Charger of the feature was Tim Ward moving from fifteenth to sixth. Monday's winner was Cayden Carter.
The initial start of the IMCA Stock Cars Summer Nationals 20-lap feature was called back, and that was followed up by a caution before lap one was scored when Tommy Fain from Abilene, Texas, slid off the top of turn two. When the race finally got some momentum and got rolling, it was Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, driver Brandon Schmitt grabbing the top spot, as they were going three and four wide throughout the field. Schmitt used the bottom, and Little Suamico, Wisconsin racer Tyler Wilson used the top shelf, and they battled it out for the race lead. Then the caution came out again on lap seven when Parker Slagle and Braden Richards went together in turn one. Schmitt continued to lead the way, but Kelly Shryock broke up the Cheesehead party out front and joined in the battle for the lead. The final caution came out on lap 12 when Cole Czarneski slid off the backstretch when he got bumped by Kodey Miles. Schmitt, Wilson, and Shryock battled it out on the restart. Wilson edged ahead on lap 16, but Schmitt came back to take the lead on lap 18. Wilson did not go away and won in a photo finish at the line over Schmitt and Shryock to take home the $5,000 prize. Nick Buckarma and eighteenth-place starter Cayden Carter finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Carter won Monday night's invitational, and Tony Olson won Tuesday night's feature.

Braden Gifford, Leah Wroten, and Wayne Gifford led the field to the green flag in the 16-lap IMCA Summer Nationals feature event for the IMCA Hobby Stocks presented by Performance Bodies. In the younger Gifford, Braden grabbed the race lead, but he had his hands full as Dad, Wayne, battled it out. Wayne Gifford got by his son Braden on lap five and left his son to battle with Leah Wroten and Briar Kriegel. Unfortunately, just after the race passed the halfway point, a hand full of cautions came out. The first caution was for Ben Shannon and McKenna Koch, who spun in turns three and four; the following restart saw Karter Miles slide off the top of turn one; the next restart saw Tyler Gray spin on the backstretch with Brandon Nielsen, Jaice Tuttle, and Koch all getting together on the backstretch. Wayne Gifford and the field finally got another lap in the books, but the caution came out again when Quinton Miller spun in turn four, and then on the restart, Briar Krigel spun in turn four, collecting David Bennett, Zach McNeese, Miller and Jacob Floyd. Wayne Gifford hung on to take the feature win worth $2,000. Braden Gifford finished second, Leah Wroten was third, Dalton Weepie was fourth, and Joren Fisher was fifth. Wroten won on Monday night, and Karter Miles won on Tuesday.

The final feature of the IMCA Summer Nationals was the 15-lap IMCA Sport Compacts presented by Cue Rentals powered by Tarpy. The initial start was waived twice, penalizing Adam Gates one row for jumping the start. Lukas Rick inherited the pole position and took full advantage, grabbing the race lead. They went four, five, and briefly six wide behind him. Brad Chandler was among those in that battle, working his way from ninth. Chandler took over the top spot on lap 4, and he pulled away. The caution came out on lap six for Mike Peyton, who spun in turn two. Lap seven, another caution came out. Jay Orr slid off the top of turn three as Stephen Randall lost a right rear wheel in turn four, collecting Terry Bickford, Dan Schmidt, and Michael Stoddard. Two more cautions came out; lap eight for Orr made contact with Robert Rundle, pushing him off the front stretch. The final caution came out on lap nine when Adam Gates and Mitch Bielenberg got together off turn two. Chandler led the remaining 6 laps and went on to pocket the $1,000 prize, his second win of the week, as he also won the $1,000 to win the invitational race on Monday. Tuesday's winner Mitch Bielenberg came from eleventh to finish second. Rick was third, Brooke Osler was fourth, and fifteenth-place starter Michael Gardner came home in fifth.
