Bieret, Lappegard, Smith, Lucas, Abelson and Anderson Win at the Beaver

The plan was to make first ever trip to the Beaver last year for the World Products Stock Car Shootout but of course mother nature flooded the place out so this year was going to be the first ever trip to the Beaver. I was able to catch a ride with Team 3W from Marshalltown but just as we got 6 blocks from the shop the truck just shut off and wouldn't start so we got the truck towed back to the shop and started working on it to figure the problem out in the mean time we called ahead to get checked in.

We changed the fuel pump and then figured a electrical issue somewhere once we got it working hooked the trailer back up and was on the road at 4:15 pm and after a quick stop at Casey's on the way out of town we left Marshalltown at 4:30 pm with 3 hours to get to the track before heat races. We made it to Storm Lake at 7:10 pm and put some fuel in the truck and arrived at the track at 7:20 pm.

Enough with that though its on to the racing action. We quickly notice the track was very tacky and it was defintely holding a lot of moisture so it was going be a great night at the Beaver.

The first feature of the night was the BVR Bombers and it was Jake Bieret leading from start to finish in the 8 lap feature. Keith Demey was 2nd, Josh Mahler was 3rd, Taylor Bengford was 4th and Kevin Keim was 5th.

In the IMCA Sport Compacts feature would see the caution fly a couple of times before a single lap was completed. When the racing action got going it was Mark Dorcey taking the early lead. Megan Lappegard would take the lead when Dorcey would experience troubles and get into the wall on the backstretch on lap 4. Lappegard would go on to take the win with Cory Flanigan coming home in 2nd. Gregory Brunelle, Nathan Ray and Cory Peters round out the top 5.

Craig Brotherton would take the early lead in the IMCA Hobby Stock feature but just after 1 lap was completed the caution would come out. Brotherton would resume comand but just after another lap was completed the caution would come out again. Brotherton would resume command but Devin Smith was working his way through and made it to 2nd and began to battle Brotherton for the lead. Smith would lead lap 5 but it was Brotherton taking the lead back on the outside on lap 6. Smith and Brotherton would race side by side for the remaining laps with Brotherton leading most of them but Smith would make a final turn pass and go on to take the win. Brotherton settled for 2nd, Cody Nielsen was 3rd, Justin Nehring was 4th and Brandon Nielsen was 5th.

The IMCA SportMods feature it would be Dylan Petersen leading the first 8 laps before Austin Lucas would get by and take the top spot. The race caution would come out on lap 11 but that didn't fazed Lucas as he again would start to pull away but then the 2nd race caution comes out on lap 14 forcing a green-white-checkered finish. Lucas would go on and take the win with Joel Rust, Logan Scott, Doug Smith and Keagan Scott completing out the top 5.

Stacey Mills would lead the first 2 laps in the IMCA Modifieds feature but it was Chris Abelson taking the lead on lap 3 and not looking back. Mills finished 2nd, Dustin Smith was 3rd, Jim Thies was 4th and Justin Sackett was 5th.

Final feature of the night was the feature head liner the World Products Kyle Suter Memorial Stock Car Shootout for IMCA Stock Cars.  It was racing veteran Jeff Anderson taking the lead and just after 2 laps was completed the caution came out for Jay Brannan after getting together with Allan Schmidt. Again 2 laps later the caution would come out for Allan Schmidt in turn 3. Anderson would continue to lead but Damon Murty would work his way up to battle with Anderson for the lead. Murty would take the lead on lap 14 but would slip up just enough to allow Anderson by him. Brian Blessington, who started 17th, had worked his way up and battle with Anderson for the lead and would take it away on lap 18 but Anderson would not give up as Anderson would take the lead back. Anderson would go on to take the win in the opening night of the World Products Stock Car Shootout Series with Damon Murty, Donavon Smith, David Smith and Brian Blessington.

Racing was completed and we were on the road back to the shop at 11:30 pm and arrived home around 2:30 am......Jeff Wollam started 4th in the heat race and was up battling for the lead exiting turn 2 and finished 2nd behind Jeff Anderson. In the feature, Jeff Wollam would start 5th and drop back to 11th before working his way back up to finish 9th......We were just out geared but oh well we had a fun day despite how the day started.
