With Temperatures around 100 degrees it was back to action at the Southern Iowa Speedway with the first of 2 nights of racing during the Southern Iowa Fair. The featured headliners on Tuesday Night Fair Races was the JR Motorsports Hawkeye Dirt Tour for IMCA Modifieds plus the IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA SportMods, IMCA Hobby Stocks and IMCA Sport Compacts. The night saw 83 cars sign in ith 27 HDT Modifieds on Doc360/KBOE Radio Night at the Southern Iowa Fair.
First feature of the night was the Pyramid Graphics and Sports IMCA SportMods feature saw Sam Wieben lead the first lap before Curtis Vanderwal would take over the lead. Vanderwal would remain out front until the first race caution came out for a filter cover in turn 1 from Vanderwal car and Cory Van Zante in turn 3. On the restart it was Vanderwal getting a great restart, Jesse Sobbing would get by Sam Wieben for 2nd and set his sights on Vanderwal but this time Vanderwal would not be denied the win. Sobbing finished 2nd, Brett Lowry would finish 3rd, Wieben was 4th and Chris Larson was 5th.
In the Tracy Elevator IMCA Hobby Stocks feature it was Dustin Griffiths leading all 15 laps in route to take the 2nd win of the season at Osky. Mike Hughes would end up 2nd, Craig Brown was 3rd, Bobby Greene was 4th and Nick Ulin was 5th.
Carter Manufacturing IMCA Stock Cars saw Zack Vanderbeek finish right were he left off last week and that is a return trip back to victory lane after leading all 16 laps. Damon Murty was 2nd, Corey Stout came across the line in 3rd but as disqualifed in post race tech inspection so Jay Schmidt moved to 3rd, Alex Buffington moved to 4th and Matt Greiner was 5th.
The Autocrafters/Whalen Racing IMCA Sport Compacts would see Dallas Chandler lead all 8 laps in route to take his 2nd win in back to back weeks at Osky in normally Bill Whalen Jr's car. Bill Whalen Jr. would finish 2nd in a different car, Tyler Whalen was 3rd, Merv Chandler was 4th and Tyler Whalen was 5th.
Final feature of the night was the JR Motorsports Hawkeye Dirt Tour for IMCA Modifieds feature and it was Michael Long jumping to the early lead. Just after the completion of 2 laps the caution would wave 3 times, first for Jeremy Freiner in turn 2 and Darin Duffy would head pit side after making heavy contact with a tractor tire. On the restart the caution would fly again this time for Tyler Cale going around on the backstretch and then third time for a Ray Cox Jr and Kyle Strickler in turn 2. Long would continue to lead but then the caution would fly again on lap 5 for Wade Francis spinning out on the back stretch. Long didn't let that bother him but then the final 2 race cautions came out on lap 8 and 9 both because Jacob Murray having trouble. Long would pull away and win by a full straightaway over Luke Wanninger, Richie Gustin was half a straightwaway behind in 3rd, Jay Noteboom was 4th and Mike Van Genderen was 5th.
Racing action will return again Wednesday Night as it will be KBOE Radio/Pepsi/Mountain Dew Night at the Southern Iowa Fair. Hot Laps at 7 pm and Racing at 7:30 pm.
