Carter, Vanderbeek, Sobbing, Anderson and Chandler win on Dave Lowry Memorial Night

It was the start to a busy 8 days of racing action at the Southern Iowa Speedway as it was Monte Motor Parts Dave Lowry Memorial Night and any residents of Oskaloosa, Tracy or Beacon got in for 5 dollars.

Before features would be run it was the Dave Lowry Memorial Challenge Race and it was Bobby Greene taking the win in his hobby stock. Kyle Harwood was 2nd in a stock car, Ryan Dolan was 3rd in a modified, Damon Murty was 4th in a stock car, Corey Stout was 5th in a stock car. Jason Hall in a Sport Mod, Eric Flander in a Sport Mod and Merv Chandler in a Sport Compact rounded out the field.

First feature of the night was the IMCA Sport Compacts feature and it was Bill Whalen Jr. in a different car taking the lead. Whalen would be passed by Dallas Chandler on lap 3. Chandler took the win, John Wahlen would take 2nd from his Brother Bill. Merv Chandler was 4th and Trent Orwig was 5th.

In the Tracy Elevator IMCA Hobby Stocks feature and it was Justin Hook taking the early lead however just after 1 lap was completed Hook would go off turn 3 and bring out the caution that would give the lead to Jamie Songer. Songer would lead the race until lap 6 when Dustin Griffiths would take the lead and shortly after the yellow came out for Scott Shull in turn 3. Griffiths would lead until Shannon Anderson chase him down on lap 11. Anderson would go on to take the win with Griffiths in 2nd. Mike Hughes, Donavon Nunnikhoven and Danny Thrasher would round out the top 5.

The Carter Manufacturing IMCA Stock Cars feature saw Alex Buffington take the early lead but just after 1 lap was completed Todd Reitzler would lose a driveshaft in turn 1. Buffington would lose the lead to Corey Stout on lap 4, Stout would then lose the lead to Matt Greiner on lap 5. Griener would lose the lead to Damon Murty on lap 6 and then 2 laps later the caution came out for Kyle Harwood in turn 1. When the race resumed it was Murty still out front but by that time Zack Vanderbeek would work his way through the field and take the win. Murty settled for 2nd, Greiner was 3rd, Stout was 4th and Buffington was 5th.

Up next was the Pyramid Graphics and Sports IMCA SportMods feature and it was Bill Gibson taking the early lead but he would have to deal with Curtis Vanderwal. Vanderwal would tkae the lead on lap 7 and 2 laps later the caution would come out. Vanderwal would lose the lead to Jesse Sobbing on lap 11 and a lap later the caution would come out twice and then again a lap later. Sobbing would go on and take the win with Vanderwal, Carter Vandenberg, Jason McDaniel and Jason Hall rounding out the top 5.

The final feature of the night was the Musco Lighting IMCA Modifieds feature. Andrew Schroeder woud lead the first 2 laps but then a caution would come out for Jacob Murray in turn 2. On the restart it was Cayden Carter getting by Schroeder to take the lead. Carter would go on and take the win with Scott Dickey, Adam Larson, Ryan Dolan and Schroeder finishing 2nd through 5th.


Next week there will be 2 nights of racing at the Southern Iowa Speedway as the JR Motorsports Hawkeye Dirt Tour will make a visit on Tuesday Night and then on Wednesday its the KBOE Radio/Pepsi-Mountain Dew Southern Iowa Fair Special. All classes will race both nights with a draw/redraw format and Hot Laps at  7 pm and Racing at 7:30 pm.
